Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth — but many patients have questions about cost, process, and recovery. Here's a straightforward guide.

What are implants? A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone. Over 3-6 months, it fuses with the bone (a process called osseointegration), creating a permanent anchor for a crown, bridge, or denture.

The process typically involves three steps: First, the implant is placed during a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthesia. Second, you wait 3-6 months for healing. Third, the final restoration (crown or bridge) is attached.

Recovery is usually smoother than patients expect. Most people return to normal activities within a day or two. Some swelling and mild discomfort is normal for the first week and is manageable with over-the-counter painkillers.

Cost varies depending on the case — single implants are different from full-arch rehabilitation. At Premier Dental Care, we provide a detailed cost breakdown during your consultation so there are no surprises.

Implants require adequate jawbone density. If bone is insufficient, grafting may be needed first. This is something we assess during your initial consultation with X-rays and examination.
